It sometimes appears, that the docking station of Dell laptops of the Latitude D series, i.e. Dell Latitude D505, D520, D620, ... is not working properly, especially USB devices might not work.
First, check connectivity of the USB plug: "wiggle" the plug a bit and see, if the device is recognized then. It might just be poor contact.
If that doesn't help, reset the notebook docking station by
- ejecting the laptop (i.e., remove it from the docking station)
- disconnect docking station power plug
- wait at least 30 seconds
- press and hold both buttons on the upper side of the docking station, at the same time, while
- plug docking station power in again
- release the two buttons.
If that doesn't help, and you know what a docking profile is, you might want to undock the notebook, then remove docked profiles, and then dock the laptop again (this information was received from the Dell support).
If this doesn't help, pleace contact IT Support.
