Today we would like to announce the beta test of the IRC's first Library 2.0 Widget: jOPAC. jOPAC allows searching the library catalog within various other platforms, such as iGoogle, Netvibes, Windows Vista Sidebar, Macintosh Dashboard, etc. Further information and installation links can be found on http://teamwork.jacobs-university.de:8080/confluence/x/05Ce.
For a quick start, a live demo can be found at http://dev.public.jacobs-university.de/live/jOPAC.html.
Since this tool is - we think - the first of its kind world-wide, pioneer's problems are quite likely. A great deal of sorting out these problems has already been done, however now we would also like to ask you - the users - to test and use this tool. Only with your help it will be possible, to find all erroneous programming. Once done, this tool will not only serve our users for searching the library, but might also be extended for further functionality or use within other universities.
Further information on the IRC's Web tools development can be found at http://teamwork.jacobs-university.de:8080/confluence/x/z5Ce.
Excellent work! Will the script be available for re-use by other libraries?
