You're leaving campus or the country and don't know what to do with all those books? Your spring cleaning frenzy has resulted in organized bookshelves and leftover books?
As the spring semester quickly draws to a close, the IRC-Library would like to remind all members of the Jacobs University community that we have two special collections which grow exclusively through donations: the Community Collection and the Kids' Collection. We will gladly accept donations for these collections at any time at the circulation desk in the IRC. Simply bring the books by and fill out a donation form: that's all!
What are these collections?
The Community Collection was started in 2007 and has since grown to a collection of over 800 books in at least five languages. More information about the University Community Collection is available on our website.
The Kids' Collection was started in fall 2008 in collaboration with Kids@Jacobs, the daycare on the university campus. The goal is to build a collection of children's books primarily in English, although donations in all languages are welcome. You can read more here.
Thank you for all donations!

The functionality you've become used to remains the same, but there are some new added features:
- Book covers are displayed for many titles;
- You can see availability on the first search result page;
- You can limit your search to available items only; and
- Using the advanced search option, you can limit your search to particular materials, for example DVDs or e-books. And much more!
We hope you like the new look and new features - please let us know by commenting below or sending an e-mail.

In accordance with our continuing cooperation with the on-campus daycare, we'd like to remind patrons that the kids come to our library for story time twice a month on Friday mornings. If during that time the increase in noise level in the library disturbs you, please take the opportunity to move to the Quiet Study Area in the west wing of the library. Thank you for your understanding.
ScienceDirect will be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance for approximately 8.5 hours during the period from 04:30AM to 1:00PM on Sunday 14, March.

In celebration of Women's History Month, Women and Social Movements in the United States is freely available on the web until the end of March.
An overview of the resource from their website:
Women and Social Movements in the United States is a resource for students and scholars of U.S. history and U.S. women's history. Organized around the history of women in social movements in the U.S. between 1600 and 2000, this collection seeks to advance scholarly debates and understanding about U.S. history generally at the same time that it makes the insights of women's history accessible to teachers and students at universities, colleges, and high schools. The collection currently includes 91 document projects and archives with more than 3,600 documents and 150,000 pages of additional full-text documents, and more than 2,060 primary authors.
Take a look and let us know what you think!
