  1. Hi,

Is there a way to configure Windows Live Mail for Jacobs email?

    Many thanks!

    1. In your Windows Live Mail, have a look at "Options" -> "More Options" -> Sending/receiving email from other accounts.

From a security perspective, I advise against handing your Jacobs account data to an external party, Microsoft and Google included. Also check the General Policy Governing the Appropriate Use of Computer Resources: "You must not share your password with anyone else..."

  2. OK, thanks a lot!

The reason I needed that was to import my Outlook archive into Thunderbird because I have switched computers and on the new one I only had Thunderbird without Outlook installed. Thunderbird allows import from Outlook Express which is no longer available for me - instead it suggested Live Mail. I assumed the migration might work from Live Mail too.

But in the meantime I found out that Live Mail asks you to create an "account", which I didn't like so I looked for other alternatives. I have solved the problem by getting access to a machine with both Outlook and Thunderbird. So far migration is successful.

    Many thanks!
